Week 6: Full strength — leak-free!

We teach you in person. No guesswork.

Your Mental Health Matters

Baby Blues? (Normal Adjustment)
  • Includes tearfulness, high worry, and feeling overwhelmed/tired.
  • Normal in the first 2 weeks after birth due to hormone shifts.
  • We listen, no judgment: Always discuss your feelings with your provider.
Postpartum Depression? (Needs Support)
  • Intense sadness, panic, or anger that persists after 2 weeks.
  • Inability to sleep or eat, or feeling unable to bond with the baby.
  • We connect you to professional help, including therapists and specialists.

A free counseling session is included in your postnatal package.

Family Planning — When You’re Ready

We discuss all suitable contraceptive options at your week 4 check-up:

  • Mini-pill: Progestin-only oral contraceptive, safe with breastfeeding.
  • IUD (Coil): Highly effective device, can be fitted painlessly at the week 6 appointment.
  • Implant: Small rod inserted in the arm, providing 3-year protection.
  • Condoms: Barrier method you can start using anytime postpartum.

Mom’s Nutrition — Eat for Two (Still!)

Daily Must-Haves (Replenish Reserves)
  • Protein: Essential for healing (e.g., eggs, fish, lean meat, beans).
  • Calcium: Vital for bone health (e.g., milk, yogurt, dark leafy greens).
  • Iron: Crucial if you experienced blood loss (e.g., spinach, red meat, supplements).
  • Hydration: Aim for 3 liters of water daily, especially if breastfeeding!
Easy, Healthy Snacks We Love
  • Banana or apple slices with peanut butter (quick energy boost).
  • Yogurt mixed with nuts or seeds (protein and calcium).
  • Avocado on toast or crackers (healthy fats).

Sleep Tips (Yes, It’s Possible)

  • Sleep when baby sleeps — dishes can wait
  • Partner takes night feed (pumped milk or formula)
  • White noise — helps baby (and you!)
  • Short naps — 20 mins = 1 hour energy
