Endometriosis is a common condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb (the endometrium) grows in places outside the uterus.
This tissue often attaches to the ovaries, fallopian tubes, surface of the bowel, or bladder. Every month, this displaced tissue acts like the uterine lining—it thickens and bleeds during the menstrual cycle.
